Atopic dermatitis (AD), also known as atopic eczema, is a type of inflammation of the skin affecting 15-30% children and 2-10% adults world-wide. It results in itchy, red, swollen, and cracked skin. Clear fluid may come from the affected areas, which often thickens over time. This complex disorder features hypersensitivity to environmental agents and immune dysfunction, Yet, the sequential events leading to eczematous lesions are not completely understood. Therefore, in-depth study of the pathogenesis of atopic eczema is of great significance for the clinical search for effective treatment methods.
