Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic disease characterized by progressive degeneration of articular cartilage. It is generally believed that the primary lesion is in the cartilage and gradually affects tissues such as synovium, subchondral bone, and joint capsule. Its main features include progressive degeneration of cartilage, subchondral osteosclerosis, formation of osteophytes at the joint edge, and secondary synovitis. Creating a rat osteoarthritis (OA) model by cutting the anterior cruciate ligament before surgery has the advantages of simulating the progression of osteoarthritis after human trauma and fast modeling speed.
Observation indicators
At 4 weeks post surgery, there were significant changes in the articular cartilage, with significant joint damage at 8/12 weeks, usually accompanied by bone spur formation and subchondral bone changes.
