Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) are the main component of endotoxins, originating from the outer membrane of Gram negative bacterial cell walls. They are prone to causing bronchopneumonia, and in severe cases, can develop into acute pneumonia. The use of LPS induction to establish an acute pneumonia model is simple to operate and has a high success rate in modeling.
